Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Review
And My Retro look
I've been on the hunt for a new mascara for a while now - my Max Factor False Effect never really lived up to expectations and is too old to be of any use at all - and I decided to try out another high street option, rather than spend precious resources on a luxury item. I'd rather save that for foundation. Or serum. Increasingly, I'm thinking it's far more worth spending out on skincare and saving on certain make-up, but I digress.
It was a toss up between this Rimmel mascara (just how many versions do they do? It seems almost limitless) and Maybelline's Volum Express Colossel. In the end, the Rimmel one was on offer and Boots was also out of the Maybelline one - so decision made. Simples.
I have pretty short, uninspiring eyelashes - I'm always very jealous of people with long luscious lashes - and I'll admit that my expectations that this would create a 'bold, wide-eyed false lash look' were not high. The brush is an 'hour-glass' shape - basically, it has a dip in the middle - designed to 'plump lashes, fanning them up and out for volume'.

Can a brush really achieve this? Well, yes, is the answer. This mascara really did add volume to my lashes. This mascara probably isn't for everyone, as it could probably add some real punch to those blessed with decent lashes, but for me, it's great.
Also, after several uses (including one trip out to a theme park - I truly have put this mascara through its paces), I can confirm that it doesn't flake, doesn't end up half way down my face and doesn't disappear to nothing by lunchtime. In short, it doesn't disappoint.
